Piper Super Cub Balsa USA
The Piper PA-18 Super Cub was originally a military school and reconnaissance aircraft of the U.S. aircraft manufacturer Piper Aircraft Corporation, which has been prepared as of the year 1949 in series. It is the successor of the Piper J-3, like this one Spornradflugzeug and looks quite similar to this, although the design is significantly different from its predecessor.
After the closure of the factory in Lock Haven in 1984, the PA-18 was rebuilt in 1987 in Vero Beach. To avoid the labor-intensive assembly, the PA-18 was last manufactured only as a kit.
With more than 40,000 aircraft built the Piper Cub models in their class worldwide the most produced aircraft.
The aircraft enjoyed great popularity in European military, it was a cost-effective aircraft for pilot training.
Numerous aircraft were shipped to Europe, mainly Germany and Benelux. The PA-18-trainers of the armed forces were equipped with couplings for glider towing. The L-18C were (PA-18) from 1956 to 1978 used / March 1980 in the German army. The Air Force received 39 units plus 1 damaged from USAF stocks
