The company was founded in 1910 by Sir George White as "The British and Colonial Aeroplane Company". The production facilities were located near the airport in the north of the city of Bristol Filton.
Initially the company produced, developed by the French aviation pioneer Gabriel Voisin model "Zodiak" licenses, with this machine, but was not very successful.
