De Haviland DH-4 1/4 U.S. training aircraft
The Airco DH4 was a single-engine, two-seat biplane that was used in World War II as a bomber. It was developed by the British company Airco. The production took place in the UK and in the U.S. as DH4A. It was used on British and U.S. services from March 1917.
The designed by Geoffrey de Havilland machine reached a peak altitude of over 7,000 m and a speed of 170 km / h, so that the German fighters had difficulty to catch this machine. By war's end 1,880 units were produced.
The British government approved the resumption of civil aviation with effect from 15 July 1919. That same day promoted England's first airline, Aircraft Transport and Travel (AT & T), its first paying passengers on a charter flight from London to Paris. The AT & T had before the end of 1920 had to suspend its operations due to economic problems, two DH4, four DH4A, 16 DH9/DH9B, eight and three DH16 DH18.
