Condor K10 Shoestring Formula 1 Raceplane - Wood kit with GRP fuselage
The Condor K-10 Shoestring (originally known as the Ast Special and Mercury Air Shoestring) was a Formula One air racing aircraft built by Carl and Vincent Ast in 1949 to compete in the Cleveland National Air Races. cantilever monoplane with fixed tailwheel landing gear. The main wheels were covered with spats. The Shoestring differs in its approach to the 66-square-foot wing limitation, choosing a specific high aspect ratio tapered wing versus the stub wings of others. The original aircraft (registered N16V) was extensively rebuilt in 1965 and 1974 and by that time had won fourteen first places, three second places and four third places.
